Civilian deaths at the hands of U.S. Border Patrol agents are increasing even though immigration and assaults against agents are down. A collaboration among nonprofit media organizations identified at least 14 men and boys who have died since 2010. Valeria Munique Tachiquin’s death marks the 15th killing.  She is the first female and the fifth U.S. citizen to be killed. Her case is not mentioned on this archive, but the cases of the other 14 are documented.
